Hive discontinues several products

Hive has announced that it is discontinuing several of its products. The products that the company is no longer selling include Hive View cameras, Hive HomeShield and Hive Leak. The company says it wasn’t easy to say “goodbye to the products our customers love” but said it needed to change its focus as a tech brand in the “middle of a climate crisis”.

The company says it has “big plans” to make homes more energy efficient and more affordable to run. It says it is committed to developing more smart home tech that would get it closer to Net Zero.

Can I still get support for these products?

Thankfully, Hive says these products will still be supported for “some time” and will still work with the Hive app.

Discontinued products

Hive View Indoor and Outdoor Cameras

Hive says customers’ Hive Video Playback subscriptions would continue to operate as normal going forward. It says it will inform its customers if this changes. Hive View cameras should work as normal until the three-year support period comes to a close on the 1st of August 2025. The cameras will no longer function after this date. Hive Video Playback subscriptions are to last for a minimum of two years. The company says it will still offer support for issues or faulty devices in line with terms and conditions until the end of the support period.

Hive HomeShield

HomeShield Plus subscriptions will continue to operate as normal going forward. Hive says it will let its customers know if this changes. HomeShield systems will work as normal until the three-year support period ends on the 1st of August 2025. However, it says it is keen to ensure that the Siren and Keypad will still function at the end of this period. Hive says it will share more information with its customers when it has a definitive answer.

Leak Sensor

Hive’s leak detection service will operate as normal until support ends on the 1st of September this year. After this date, customers will no longer receive notifications of possible leaks. They also will be unable to access in-app water usage history graphs. If your product has already been installed, you will be able to use it until this date.
